Announcement on Raising Exhibition Items about History of Chinese Medical Association

The Chinese Medical Association (CMA) stands as the largest national-level medical and academic organization in China. Founded in 1915, it is a non-profit, academic organization voluntarily formed by Chinese science and technology medical professionals. Over the past century, the CMA has grown into a pivotal social force in the development of medical science, technology, and healthcare in China. Today, the CMA boasts 88 specialty societies, 677,000 members, and 478 professional sub-society groups. It has also joined 42 international or regional medical organizations and maintains close cooperation with medical associations across provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and deputy-provincial level cities. The CMA publishes 186 paper and electronic medical journals and hosts nearly 200 international and national high-level medical academic conferences annually.

To fully showcase the historical trajectory of the CMA from its inception to its current leading position in the medical field, and to truly reflect the excellent culture of the CMA and the striving-forward spirit of Chinese medical science and technology professionals, the CMA has decided to organize an exhibition about its history. The collection of exhibition items is now open to the public. The following details outline the scale of the exhibition items and the methods for their collection.

Scale of Exhibition Items

The exhibition aims to include important items that reflect major events, significant milestones, and notable contributions in the centennial history of the CMA. These items will also feature works from representative figures of the CMA. The scope of the exhibition items includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Important Identification Badges, Certificates, Commendations, Medals, Trophy Cups, Seals, and Other Credentials: These items serve as tangible evidence of the CMA’s achievements and recognitions over the years.

  2. Inscriptions and Photos from Party and State Leaders: These materials highlight the support and acknowledgment from high-level political figures, underscoring the CMA’s national importance.

  3. Diplomatic Notes, International Presents, and Other Diplomatic Witnessing Items: These artifacts demonstrate the CMA’s international collaborations and its role in global medical diplomacy.

  4. Newspapers, Books, Mail Products, and Other Publications: These documents provide a written record of the CMA’s activities, research, and contributions to the medical field.

  5. Significant Working Photos and Audio-Visual Materials: These visual and auditory records offer a dynamic portrayal of the CMA’s history, capturing key moments and developments.

Collection Methods

The CMA has established several methods for the collection of exhibition items to ensure a comprehensive and representative display:

  1. Transfer or Donation: The primary method for acquiring exhibition items is through transfer or donation. Individuals or institutions possessing relevant items are encouraged to contribute to the exhibition.

  2. Submission of Photos and Descriptive Notes: Potential contributors are invited to send photos and descriptive notes of the exhibition items to the designated contact email. If the items are selected after evaluation, the CMA will contact the owner to complete the necessary procedures for transfer or donation.

  3. Alternative Methods for Non-Donatable Items: For items that cannot be donated, CMA staff will either take videos, scans, or photocopies of the originals to include them in the exhibition.

  4. Certificates and Rewards: The CMA will provide certificates or other appropriate acknowledgments to institutions or individuals who donate exhibition items, recognizing their valuable contributions.
